as you said, it's not the fact that Redemption Equals Death is a thing, it's that most mainstream cinema rEFUSES to deal with that messy aftermath and it's just.... god it's so important and is 95% of the loki-fic i read which probably explains why you are my favorite author.

anyway though: yeah, exactly. both! both is good. I’m writing a post - specifically about Black Widow - that’s...well, kind of all over the place but one of the things it discusses is the idea that good isn’t just a one time thing - it’s a choice that people have to make over and over again. and in the context of redemption...yeah, depriving a character of that journey is sometimes a disappointing period at the end of a sentence that seems to come too soon.

I’VE HAD MOMENTS where i’m telling a story and i can just kinda feel myself breaking out into a cold sweat because i know there’s a word coming up that i don’t know the translation for and i’ll be sitting there like “uhhhhh it’s like... a big box. has a little round window in it. you put wet clothes in it and it makes them dry???” 

it’s so weird to have an 80% grasp on a language because you keep realizing that you don’t know the word for the most random everyday objects. like FOR EXAMPLE i don’t know the english word for a whole bunch of items of clothing/furniture! it’s weird!
