Strange building in China😲😆
How can you let the Discworld Death be eliminated in the first round you heathens?!
He looks very polite
I loved Hunger Pangs! Got the Fluff edition on Gumroads, will probably reread it at the latest when the next volume is out, and absolutely loved your portrayal of disability. And a neurodivergent vampire! Anyway, I was a bit unhappy to be spoilered for volume two by Crewel Intentions, I was thinking that a spoiler warning for the readers of your blog would be nice? Still loved the extra content, but might have kept it for later.
Thank you! I’m so glad you enjoyed it :D
And thank you. I do have spoiler warnings in the ebooks (though now very worried that we somehow missed those in the Fluff version so off to check that now!) and on my website and I *think* it should be on the Amazon descriptors. But I can also update my blog main page about it too, so thank you for that reminder!
For your Flattened Doughs of the World challenge, Southern Germany has Maultaschen, which are delicious. Fun fact, they are also known as Herrgottsbscheißerle, which in dialectal, informal German means "God cheaters", because they were apparently eaten during fasting time despite containing meat because, with the dough, the meat was hidden from God.
Oh man, I googled and those look great! I will have to add them to my list :D
So, I lurked on your blog for a few weeks before following you just after you had ordered a bunch of silkworms (but before you received them). Then I promptly lost my internet connection and wasn't on tumblr for a few weeks. In that time, I also forgot that I had followed you. All this to say: coming back to tumblr and randomly seeing "THE MOTHS ARE FUCKING" at the top of your dashboard is a strange experience. Thanks for the laugh!
You are very welcome.
The Siren
The siren has the infinite deepness of the north-west corner of the elsewhere university pool, she has hidden lakes and enchanted wells, strange ponds and ship cemeteries. These thin places are all connected but they are becoming rarer and rarer, destroyed by humans who won’t believe and the inexorable advance of what they call progress. She can change her body almost like the gentry, shorten her long fingers, soften her pointy teeth, adapt the shape of her small, round eyes and enlarge her receding chin and forehead. She can even hide her gills and teach her body to breathe air instead of water. But transform a single limb into two? Lose her beautiful, shimmering, almost transparent tail in favour of two ungainly legs, of complicated knees, protruding heels and tortured-looking toes? That she can sustain for a few seconds at most.
She has been observing the wheelchair-using students for years, especially when they exit the pool. Some just use their legs, like most other students, to go up the short ladder and walk the few feet to their chair. A few pull themselves up on arms that are as thick as her neck. Some use complicated techniques that she can’t quite figure out or ask their friends for help. It is when the university finally installs a pool lift, relenting under the pressure of a group of disabled students and their threats of an ADA suit, that she finally sees her chance.
Field never uses wheelchair blankets. When nosy strangers ask why, they are either treated to her death glare or to a diatribe about sliding blankets, ugly patterns, corners caught in wheels and the impossibility of depositing them on a non-disgusting surface when transferring to a toilet. Which is why her roommate is so surprised when she suddenly takes to using them all the time, and somehow seems to be learning how to use her chair all over again.

Trick or treat! I am dressed as the ghost of the cancelled Spanish major of my local university. This costume came to me in last night's dream.
Hello! I haven't seen you before but I admire the creativity of your costume
I will give you this vintage Lithuanian cookbook
Hi! At some point people where talking about frozen veggies vs. fresh, and you mentioned that taking frozen berries, adding some sugar, letting them melt over night and adding into yoghurt is delicious. I had too little foresight for this variant, but I just put some sugar on a half cup of frozen berries and put them into the microwave for one and a half minutes (with some mixing in between), it was delicious! I've also taken to adding this to quick porridge.
Yeah -- so much better than the jammy gloop that passes for “fruit” in store bought flavored yogurts. And I don’t wait overnight for them to get juicy, I just let them sit for an hour or so at room temp... Matter of fact, I think I’ll go do that right now.
