World View:
Alan Eustace, VP of Knowledge at Google, successfully completed a world record breaking space dive on Friday, October 24th, 2014. After ascending to the edge of space beneath a high-altitude balloon, Eustace broke the world record for highest space dive, returning to earth from 136,000+/- feet, breaking the sound barrier in the process. He also broke the world record for longest freefall; 123,414 feet straight down in only 4 minutes and 27 seconds. That's exploration elevated.
Very cool that StratEx and Alan and team pulled this off. An amazing achievement. But World View's marketing team needs serious help.
The email announcing this jump reads like a press release, and is needlessly confusing—the subhead is: "World View Acquires Key Players & Technology From 136,000 ft. Record-Breaking Space Dive." Evidently World View acquired some company called Paragon which ran StratEx, after Paragon and StratEx did the jump? Or something.
No one I know has heard of this vs. everyone heard of Red Bull's Stratos project with Felix Baumgartner breaking the record previously, last year, to a ton of publicity.
Where is the video of the jump? What's with the awful infographic? They may have broken the record but I doubt this will be remembered.
