So I'm a bit late to the bandwagon, but I had a thought about the whole "reveal" thing. Now I'm not as deeply involved with bb as you are, but I did read the manga and watch the anime. So what I was thinking... What if it's not twins, but rather the same person? We know relatively little about the cult and what it's purpose is, but what if it's to create the perfect human? And that in order to do that, they split souls in two (separating the ying and the yang so to say) 1/?
(**Yin oops lol #dyslectic much?) ANYWAYS it would be an explanation to why Ciel's soul is so interesting because it's not a whole. Now I think what would make CIel's soul even more interesting compared to Ciel #2, is that Ciel is the Yang. For Sebastian, seeing such a supposedly pure soul being so corrupted, would definitely be a treat. As for CIel #2, it would be logical for him to either be put away because he's supposed to be the Yin, making it look like the body couldn't handle the darkness, or that they'd try to "fix" him. Thus overcoming the darkness. With Ciel, they might've tried to see the limit of the Yang side and how long it'd take to get corrupted and all. Now as I said, this is all just my mind and I have nothing to back it up, but it would give more depth to the whole reveal imo. As for why Lizzy would be gone, she might think that the other Ciel is more like the one she knew because his personality resembles her memories more. What do you think?
It’s an interesting theory. The idea of figuring out how to separate the “dark” and “light” parts of a person’s soul, as a concept, is intriguing. And corrupting the purest “light” would probably be something that would interest a demon.
The only thing I can think is that interesting or not, I’m not sure a demon that’s referred to himself as “starving” would stick around for what’s actually only half a meal. But I agree that our Ciel is probably the “lighter” twin, considering how sketchy the whole reunion scene seemed.
As for Lizzy, she’s had three years to get attached to Ciel. There’s no doubt that she loves him. If she knows the truth, she’s probably having to grapple with the realization that the one she’s loved all that time isn’t the one that was her fiance to start with, along with the general shock that the twin isn’t dead in general. I can see where that would be a little traumatizing. Her whole worldview just broke.
