Form over color?
What is most important here: the colors –soft, pastel, harmonious –or the variety of shapes? The globes of Allium ‘Summer Beauty’ in the foreground are a kind of solid presence in a planting where soft and diffuse shapes dominate. The pale yellow-green of Sedum telephium ‘Sunkissed’ serves to highlight surrounding colors, intensifying them; it does not look particularly structural now, but by the late autumn its strong stems and well-defined seedheads will be making a distinct impression, and will continue to do so into the winter.
