HERE HE IS
Dad of the year
CEB, KIDAR, AND CITAAL’S FATHER
STRIEKE THE SPINE-EATER
So why don't you like your dad?
"Are you kidding me." Kidar's fists fall to his sides as they unconsciously clench and unclench themselves. His tail drops from it's usual proud high sway to dangerously flicking back and forth at his ankles.
"Why do I not Like my dad. Lemme think--," The speckled river troll's jaw clenched, but Kidar forced his expression to remain neutral.
"Well, I have to start off with his title before anything else of Course." He scoffed.
"Dad was The, Oh So Great, Spineater of the Gumm Gumms. Son of some really fucked up assassin guy who ate whelps. Claimer of 'Never Wanting to be like HIS OWN SIRE' and then doing JUST that. The Biggest Fucking Hypocritical Cuck you could ever meet. Y'know, Ceb treats him like some kinda hero, but He BROKE every bone in our bodies. Literally. I can still clearly remember the sound of it cracking when he grabbed my arm, and just snapped it in two. He pitted me and Ceb against each other constantly, to the point that we were actively trying to murder each other. He hated the traditions of his family, and Yet he kept one of the worst ones with Ceb's arranged marriage. He WAS NEVER there for me when I needed him to be, because what mattered most was 'The Cause'." Kidar took a deep breath.
"And those are just EXAMPLES."
Why is Ceb and Kidar's relationship different in the changeling au? Shouldn't it be similar to their regular one?
Their relationship in the Changeling au is different because of the shift in perspectives.
In the regular au Streike has Ceb pushed to his edge during training. Being a changeling, Ceb was taught that no one would ever 'take it easy' on him, and that he would always have to give himself and then some into whatever he does Because of this. 110%. Everyday. All the time. No Exceptions. Because the other creatures living in this world would be that cruel towards him, and take every opportunity to knock him down. Pureblooded trolls especially. They're bigger. They're Stronger. And far Crueler than Streike would be if they were the ones to train Ceb.
So during training with Kidar, Ceb saw his brother as that. The troll far bigger and stronger than he was and ready to take him down with all they had. Even though in reality Kidar was younger, and far less experienced and not at all prepared to really go at his big brother like Ceb himself was towards Kidar.
—————
In the changeling au, Streike isn't much different on how he trained Ceb the same way he does in the Canon verse. The difference is only that Ceb was a full blooded troll, and that Kidar was a changeling.
When introducing his second born into training, also much like the Canon au, Streike had only been teaching Kidar for a few weeks before pitting him against Ceban, the oldest who'd been training for a few Years.
Ceb immediately saw the disadvantage Kidar had, not just because of the gap in species, but more from his younger brother's absolute lack in experience. That wasn't right to him, there was no point and if anything Ceb knew that would only result in him hurting Kidar badly. He refused to fight his brother all at once, instead when sparring Ceb held himself back making sure Kidar could work up on his experience and techniques so that he could get stronger until he was ready and confident enough to actually face his older brother.

Streike: "'Ban, you’ll be a stronger warrior with a true Gumm Gumm mate at your side!"
Ceb: "I'm stronger Alone."
Streike: "... I just... I don't want you to be alone, son."
Ceb: "Look, Papa. I Promise, if I meet a guy out there who takes my hand, and looks me in the eyes, and I don't wanna hit him, I'll consider it. But that kinda guy doesn't exist."
So about Ceb and Kidar's childhood, and why it was so brutal and harsh. All I can say is this;
Streike raised and brought up his children in such a precise and brutal way. He did it to be absolutely certain that, instead of just simply surviving in the current brutal world surrounding them, his sons would Thrive and Flourish in it. However, Streike didn't think to teach them how to do the same for the world beyond that.
Streike: 'Ban, you’re a … unique Lad. And Aleagare may have a few flaws –
Ceb: Understatement!
Streike: But he still loves you.
Ceb: He loves the Family Title. And his hair. And not in that order.
Streike: But if not Aleagare, then, there has to be someone else.
Ceb: No, there doesn’t.
Streike: Maybe if you got out more?
Ceb: Let it go, Papa.
