Classes I’ve Been Taking Over the Past Seven Weeks

I meant to upload this post weeks ago, but school has been a lot. Better late than never right! So as usual, I’m going to post the classes I’m taking this quarter for future reference. If anyone has any questions about my major or the classes I’m taking, feel free to put a message in my inbox.

This quarter I’ve been taking 18 units (a lot, I know!). It’s actually been really stressful to juggle and really bad for my mental health. Even though I need to take a lot of units to graduate on time, I might be taking extra time in school to finish my degree so that I don’t have this type of quarter again. (If you want to learn more about that, feel free to ask and I will answer!)

Phil 80: Mind, Matter, and Meaning (5 Units)

This class is one of my hardest classes this quarter, mainly due to the amount of papers I have to write. This fulfills my writing in the major requirement (WIM). I really do enjoy the subject of the class even though the readings can sometimes be quite hard. I definitely think my writing is improvement and even though, I might not get the best grade in this course, I am trying my best. And in the end, that’s all you can really do. I’m learning a lot about how to write better as a philosopher at least, and that’s what really matters!

CS 147: Introduction to Human-Computer Interaction (5 Units)

This class is the next hardest class I’m taking. It’s essentially a design thinking and computer science class that focuses in on a group project that will result in the creation of a mobile app. This is a requirement for my concentration in Human-Computer Interaction. I’d say it takes up the majority of my time and has caused me a lot of stress over the quarter. However, I am learning some cool design stuff, so I guess that’s super exciting!

Phil 150: Mathematical Logic (4 Units)

This is one of my favorite classes this quarter, something I hadn’t anticipated. It’s actually a really cool logic class and a lot of the things I’m learning helps can be applied to my other philosophy class for this quarter. The concepts are really cool and intriguing. Also, the class is a nice medium. It’s not too hard that I can’t understand what’s going on in class, and it’s not too easy that I get bored. I did cry completing some homework assignments though as I didn’t finish my last one because I didn’t fully understand a concept we talked about in class. But overall, my experience with this class is pretty good.

Linguistics 1: Introduction to Linguistics (4 Units)

Honestly, I was expecting to like this class a lot more than I actually do. The lectures can be kind of boring sometimes and so are the assignments. This is definitely one of those classes that is just a look at everything in linguistics at a superficial level. I guess it’s great in that I get to learn more about Linguistics before I decide what other class I want to take for my major. Unfortunately, that leads to a lot of the lectures not being really exciting. Hopefully, I like my next Linguistics class better.

(Bonus) Music 65A: Voice Class 1 (1 Unit)

Because this class is really more of just a bonus class, I didn’t really count it in the amount of units I’m taking this quarter. It is helping me gain more confidence in my voice, which is great!

Horror for Emetophobes: Best of 2020!

A new year is upon us! Let us all bask in the relief that a truly horrendous year is at an end, and another year rises rife with potential for better. No-Skips Host (Short, 1 hour long) The Stylist (Short, feature length adaption coming 2021) His House M.O.M Mother of Monsters Vampires vs the Bronx The Hunt The Invisible Man I'm Thinking of Ending Things She Dies Tomorrow Come to Daddy Wolf of Snow Hollow Relic La Llorona (Not the Conjuring!) Some Skips Cadaver This Norwegian Netlix feature isn't a revelation in post-apocalyptic horror for the experienced gorehound, but its aesthetic and mood is worth the watch. 1:14:30-1:14:35. Severity: 8/10. Character v*s suddenly with graphic visual and some sound. Other Content: Corpses, blood, gore, implied child murder, squallor, the apocalypse, dystopia, starvation. Parasite The first non-English language film to win best picture at the Oscars, Parasite is a Korean slow-burner that does not disappoint. A must-see for any horror fan. 0:06:26-0:06:55. Severity: 3/10. No v*, but a drunk man is onscreen and his postures may distress. 1:36:43-1:36:55. Severity: 7/10. Character g*s and v*s with sound while a toilet in another scene overflows. Color Out of Space Nic Cage is vibrant in this Lovecraftian horror, where his family farm falls foul of a mysterious space rock. Fans of The Thing and The Void will enjoy this one. 0:44:30-0:0:44:31, Severity: 1/10. Character mentions p*ing. 0:45:30-0:46:41. Severity: 6/10. Character g*s and v*s with visuals and sound. Great Movies with Too Many Skips: The Mortuary Collection A fun, spooky anthology movie, unfortunately featuring segments that you'll want to skip, in particular from 0:19:50-0:45:15 where a man becomes pregnant. Watch if you're looking for a lighter horror feature and don't mind skipping the bulk of it. 0:32:20-0:32:45. Severity: 8/10. Character v*s with graphic sound and visuals 0:35:53-0:36:39. Severity: 10/10. Character v*s with graphic sounds and visuals.

Swallow A woman learns that the perfect life isn't always perfect. Off Topic: Cyberpunk 2077

Hello all! I’m just giving you a quick heads up on an off-topic issue. Cyberpunk 2077 isn’t a horror game so isn’t my usual writing topic, but it has several moments that are unsafe (And unsuitable for those with photosensitive epilepsy, in one case giving a reviewer a grand mal seizure).

As I haven’t played the game myself I don’t have any exact notes or timestamps, but if the game interests you please be advised the player character v*s at least once.

Trick or Treat: Day 1!

Gather your coven around the cauldron and keep your familiars close, because it’s now… THE WITCHING HOUR! Tonight we’ll be watching three witches wreak havoc on Halloween night, and maybe have a dance with the devil while they’re at it! Though don’t be fooled; tonight’s choices are light-hearted, if not even a little bit tame, but rest assured they reveal nothing of the horrors yet to come in our month of mayhem!

Those mixes also helped me last night while I was suffering, lying on my back in bed, stressed out and overtired from work to the point where I was having breathing problems and strange body pains. This felt identical to the day I was struggling to breathe from a caffeine overdose.

I hope my boss dies at this point. Her and Lo/gan Paul have a reserved date in the pit of Hell. Two calcified tumors who don’t understand a thing about being human or how to treat people, and who don’t learn from being showed mercy.

My co-worker, and elderly Filipino woman, constantly tells her that she can’t work in the men’s department because the cologne and suit dyes make her sick, but she keeps forcing her to work in there regardless, on top of just being a two-faced bitch in general. Like, I dare you to breathe some care fumes, legit.

Ack, thanks to my current class schedule, I had to quit my previous job, so now I’m jobless and it’s terrible.  I applied to a few things last week, but they haven’t gotten back to me yet.
