Out of nowhere a car pulls out in front of me. I'm preparing for the screech of metal smashing together BUT instead thank you stress cascade - I was able to swerve fast enough. Think about it - stress is designed to keep us safe from serious situations. What happens to divert all of this energy? It's taken away from normal processes. In fact some of those cells, proteins... let's just encompass them all & say molecules do not return back to their original job. Now imagine this DAY AFTER DAY AFTER DAY!? Last year, I read Emily Nagoski’s book, Come As You Are and shared it often with you (and still get so many questions about it). It’s a great read for every woman or anyone having s*x or relationships with women (apparently, s*x is not a word we are supposed to use on here now, insert eye roll). Emily’s latest book, Burnout, was birthed from her last. I just started it and has me nose-diving right in. Highly recommend. #ComeAsYouAre #Burnout #whattoread #stressresponse #emotionalhealth #scienceofstress #holywomanhood #holymotherhood #writeclubnow #authenticallyyou #womenrising #thisisforthewomen https://www.instagram.com/p/BwU8UUKFRxd/?igshid=4ajycgor177t
@stressresponse.
the glass clanks down against the metal grated table. thor can’t seem to block out the persistent hum of the ship from the periphery of their focus – enhanced hearing makes it like an unscratchable itch. the god shifts in place, unsure of themself, ‘til finally coming to a rest, voice considerably more relaxed than their faux-laid back posture. they speak slow and nod pointedly; 'you’re a resistance rebel, then?’ and the intonation implies their complete lack of understanding of what any part of this title means.

“I hope we’ll still be able to make time for each other, now I’ve got places to be and you’re... actually a big deal.”
Your nervous system is not dramatic. It is protective.
Fight or flight is your brain’s way of trying to keep you safe, even when the “danger” is an unread email, a difficult conversation, or constant stress.
Sometimes people judge themselves for feeling anxious, overwhelmed, reactive, or exhausted without realizing their body has been stuck in survival mode for too long.
Understanding what is happening inside your brain can help you respond to yourself with more compassion instead of criticism.

Have you ever felt constantly on edge, even during moments that should feel calm or ordinary? At Healthy Life Side, many people discover they have been living for years without realising their nervous system is operating in a heightened state. Recognising the signs of nervous system dysregulation is not about labelling yourself as broken, it is about understanding how prolonged stress quietly reshapes the body’s responses. When fight-or-flight becomes the default setting, the body behaves as if danger is always nearby, even when it is not.
