Guru Clef is brilliant. He knows this; everyone knows this. He’s incredibly learned in many subjects, including languages.

Cephiro has but one language, the same that’s spoken in the neighboring countries (though some of them also have their own mother tongues). He knows Anient Cephiran, plus those countries’ languages. 

And now he’s learning Japanese.

It’s not easy. While not very different from modern Cephiran at its core, it’s wildly different in many other ways. Clef finds himself up at all hours, studying the books the Knights have brought. 

All so he can write their Council paperwork in their own tongue.

PROMPT: refracted light TITLE: In the Sea of Cephiro LENGTH: 68w CHARACTERS: Umi & Selece A/N: you know what? I could’ve pushed it to 100 words but it felt done! first “fail” on the 100w challenge lol.

Umi swims in Cephiro’s seas often, something in her soul searching for a piece of herself. Cephrio’s cool waters soothe her, and she feels Selece in every ripple swirling through her fingertips. She is able to hold her breath almost infinitely here in Cephiro’s sea, and she spirals down deeper, seeking his presence. This is his home in this dimension. It is becoming her home, too, she feels.

It’s a hot day in Cephiro, and the Magic Knights are sitting in one of the palace’s many lush gardens, sunning themselves a little. In an odd reversal of their usual roles, Hikaru’s engrossed in a book and Fuu is snacking. The blonde carefully bores out the core of the routan with her thumbs, like Ferio taught her, suckling at the juice as it begins to seep out. It dribbles down her chin and she hurriedly wipes it away, flushing when she realizes that Umi is watching her entirely too closely. Umi hides behind her sunglasses, hiding her own blush.

The once-white steps are overgrown, ivy creeping like booby traps under her bare feet. Long leaves hang in her face, tickling and distracting her from her footing. But that’s one thing she’s always sure of. Despite her magic, Fuu always has her feet on the ground, always knows where she’s putting them. Usually so grounded, she’s taking a leap of faith for the first time in years, following where the breeze leads her. She knows it’s to Him. As dear to her as Hikaru and Umi. An ancient being who enjoyed her company from time to time. Windam, her mashin.

Cephiro’s beaches resemble Earth’s. Fuu walks at dawn, alone, looking for just the right glint of inspiration. She needs her music here; she has the plans to build a piano… but she needs a little something special.

The keys have to feel right under her fingers. She’s mostly played on resin keys, and ivory once, but she can’t get those here. She thinks of the craftsworks Presea has taught her, and something glints on the sand. Shells. Of course, shells. She knows a method that will work with this. She can make her piano. She can play again, in Cephiro.

It’s been a while since she’s participated in a race. There’s a local 5K in Tokyo this weekend, and she’s been training to get back into shape. She’s been eating too many of Umi’s sweets, lounging around Ferio’s quarters too much lately. She’s not ready to get back into archery seriously, so running is a good compromise.

She bought new shoes, with her new job, that she works while there is an entire other world built around magic and will. But she can run in both worlds. She tightens the laces, and heads out to move her body and mind.

He teaches her about Cephiran flora. (He knows more about Cephiran fauna, but today the lesson is on the prettiest flowers he can find. She deserves to see the prettiest flowers.)

She brings books filled with images of flora from her world. She shows him the exotic ones she’s never seen, and shows him her favorites (she is a big fan of hyacinth, and he has to admit it is quite pretty.)

The greenhouse is warm, misty and smells good; he stands close to smell her among the flowers. She leans back against his chest, and his heart warms, too.

PROMPT: a refreshing drink TITLE: Poolside LENGTH: 100w CHARACTERS: Caldina/Presea RATING: T maybe? A/N: oh let's look at this ship again...

It’s a sunny day, and Caldina and Presea are sprawled on their blankets at the Palace garden pools. In the evenings, the two hit the hot springs, and the late morning like this is for the pools. They’ve done this a hundred times. This morning, as the sun reached its peak, Caldina (an expert mixologist as well as illusionist and dancer) handed Presea her third Cephiran martini (a take on an Earth recipe). Caldina rubbed sunning oil on Presea’s back as the blonde enjoyed her drink, and the darker woman’s hands felt especially exciting today. Maybe it was the sun.
