Smith Machine Low-Bar Back Squat 3121 Many older people prefer machine-based resistance exercises given that they are somewhat easier to do than their free-weight variant. The back squat is one such exercise that many do on a Smith Machine. Here we look at a Smith Machine Low-Bar Back Squat using a controlled 3121 tempo (i.e. 3 second descent, 1 second pause, 2 second ascent, 1 second pause). This is a great exercise with slow tempo to develop general strength conditioning and control before progressing to more complex, challenging and faster tempo exercises.
