Do you remember Solo the minor boss antagonist from Capcom's Strider game? In Namco x Capcom, Namco wrote Solo as a characterized generic robot villain with equally generic dialogue and is a nodding one liner shitpost yesman machine instead of the badass confident "You got it!" Boba Fett bounty hunter assassin he was portrayed as in the original Strider arcade game.
It got worse when in Project X Zone 2 Solo is still given generic dialogue and is again portrayed as a robot instead of an organic cybernetic person. The writing Namco gave to Solo as a character dulled down his popularity with the writing staff to the point Solo got demoted as a generic scratch attack fire emblem npc mook with no special boss moves compared to Tong Pooh who has special moves. It's also worse when you realize that Solo is his Solo Mk2 upgraded self in Project X Zone 2. Reminds me of the American adaptation of Power Rangers Ninja Storm where the antagonist character Motodrone who was Manmaruba in Super Sentai Hurricanger had distinct abilities and personality as a character, is written as a generic robot in his American adaptation!
Oh yeah I know about this & as a massive fan of Strider, seeing Solo portrayed in Project X Zone 2 was a massive downgrade especially compared to how he was like in 2014 where he was extra determined to kill Strider Hiryu to complete his bounty, he would've been respected by Vile from Mega Man X & Zagi from Tales of Vesperia with how much determination he has but nah, Project X Zone 2 did nothing interesting with Solo among many things I've said in the past because whoever they hired for writers didn't do anything interesting with the IPs & just slapped them in as a desperate attempt to get them to sell their nothing action SRPG they weren't confident on & why my undying rage gets more & more justified, which is why I'm paying back it by making sure it's lasting legacy is to suffer the same way RadicalSoda makes Sonic Forces suffers or how much SonicHaXD rants about NRS story modes because they show me no matter how bad a product is, I can make it a form of art & be passionate about it
