Alantha
Deer have proven to be swift and flighty, difficult to see details on, but Dalamus has seen their silhouette. Thin and slender, not at all like the stocky rothe, and with antlers which branch like boughs of the trees they weave between.
Realized that to draw a detailed hook horror I'd have to learn how to draw bird faces.
In the mean time, please enjoy this doodle of a Hook Horror and her Hooklings
🥀
🥀 How would your OC decorate a notebook or journal? What kind of things are written in there? Could you give an example of a nice entry?
For the most part, Dalamus is very much a practical and pragmatic sort of person, and while he decorates himself with jewelry, a journal he would mostly leave be.
Initially, Dalamus writes observations about people and places which he believes are useful in a survival manner--such as characteristics and behaviors which he might use against them should they turn on him, or how he thinks they can be used for his goal, how they are useful to the group.
On some pages, there may be sketches of environments or creatures from the Underdark, or sketches of jewelry ideas. On many pages are bids to Lolth, asking for guidance or giving her thanks, along with bloody fingerprints. On one page is a bloody hand print.
As time goes on, and the group slowly gains his trust, his journal entries, while still observations, become more personal. He observes nature and its beauty, and begins writing about his feelings and uncertainties. He sketches more, drawing animals or trees or landscapes, anything he finds beautiful, once he allows himself to see it as beautiful. His jewelry sketches become more numerous. The fingerprints become few and far between, before eventually stopping.
"The kitten is growing quickly. It runs and bounces across camp with more confidence. It plays with the others and with the animals, but always comes back to me."
[Pictured is a simple and stylized drawing of Alantha the kitten looking up at an orb created by a Dancing Lights spell]
"I believe I am becoming fond."
A small baby cat interrupted my work. Black and almost golden fur, with green eyes not unlike a displacer beast.
It vibrated the entire time it sat on my table, and though it attempted to toss one of my stones, it does not seem malicious. Hours passed with it staying close, eliminating the possibility of a mage in disguise.
I see no reason to shoo it away if it does not become a nuisance.
Flow
Human. Short black hair. Light brown eyes. A cleric who seems to have history with Glorea, given their camaraderie. Despite not having a parasite, she joins to presumably help Glorea. Another cleric, specifically the healing sort but not powerful enough to rid us of the tadpoles. Having a healer will prevent the others from dying off too quickly. I do not want the magic near me. I have yet to decide whether her attitude is fun or irritating.
Yaivai
Sea elf. White hair. Grey eyes. Scar across face and a deformed ear which she hides. Apparently previously a pirate, and not shy about it. Why anyone would wish to spend time away from solid ground, I do not know. I have no reason to trust a pirate, and she seems to have the same reservations about everyone else. At least she is fun to argue with.
Tavrayn
Half drow. Red hair. Violet eyes. Another survivor. Evidently illithids have little in the way of quality control. I attempt to keep him at arms length and he continues this friendly ruse. I have no desire to associate with a half, but I suppose I have little choice. He knows the Surface and has practice speaking to those who perceive him as drow. There are times he makes an irritating amount of sense about our similarities.
