Me (still in hospital): please take the mattress pads off of the guest bed because I won't be able to get up into it. Mom's friend who is cleaning the apartment: * takes off one, leaves two * Me (at the apartment): * tries to get into bed, weak knee catches on remaining mattress pads, almost falls * Mom's friend comes by the apartment. Me: can you please take all the pads off the bed because it is very hard for me to get into it with them on. There shouldn't be anything on the mattress except the sheet. Mom's friend: sure! * still leaves one on * Me (after three am bathroom trek): * weak leg catches on remaining pad and almost knocks me down * Fuck. I'm grateful for the help, but how difficult is it to understand "all"? I guess in the morning I will be figuring out how to unmake and remake the bed while using a walker and not being able to carry anything while walking and while avoiding throwing anything on the floor because it's too hard to pick up without falling. And, no, I don't know why my mother had three mattress pads on the guest bed. Then again, this is a woman who insisted on bringing 120 wine glasses to move into a 1000 square-foot apartment despite never having more than six guests over at a time.
