She was just starting to shake when she pushed herself up off the floor - she hadn't missed landing on her feet in years even teleporting from a seated position, but...this. God. What had just happened?
Actually she was starting to sob when John grabbed her and she flinched and started to try to push him away before hearing her name. That had been all it took, and she was holding on tightly to John, crying hard, face pressed against his shoulder and coughing. Of everyone she'd thought John might end up protecting her from, she never thought Jedikiah would be one of them.
