after figuring out the timeline, redoing some of the worldbuilding, and painstakingly reshuffling some characters around and repurposing their roles somewhat to get myself out of many and more roadblocks, i finally sat down to write what the first two chapters of my self-indulgent, rewrite-ish (more like a reboot, really) AU should have in them. this is the furthest that i've ever gotten to actually writing anything, so that's a win already in my books.
the only problem. . . i'm writing it as if it's an animated show. unless i get a sudden burst of inspiration to start designing outfits, learning 3D modeling and animation, that's never going to happen, so now it remains to be seen whether i can translate it to something that's actually made to be read without losing the general vibe of it that i'm so far liking.
i wrote a half of a thing in bed between 1-2am on my phone's notes app when i should have been asleep, so things are going in... some direction, i guess? this is literally the very last part of a four chapter thing i've planned out for cmet backstories, so you could say i'm working backwards. as one does.
(first draft of some adam stuff down below. i may have a thing for characters naming themselves lmao)
the boy stares into the fire, and the fire stares back at him. memories of the past, buried deep in the shallow waters, threaten to surface. “and how did you choose your name?” he asks.
burning red meets a lone blue. the boy waits a moment, then another. he doesn’t look away; doesn’t dare to, lest he is left without an answer he so craves.
“...there were people,” the huntress—no, not a huntress, she’d told him not to call her that, even if he still thinks she looks the part—begins, “that wanted to tear my brother and i apart.” she looks away, her voice quieting. “i made sure they never could.”
the boy stares back into the fire, the flames wild and free, embers reaching high above and cinders making home below, and he remembers.
he remembers the red hot iron searing his face, damning him for eternity with three simple letters; for being born as he was. for daring to chase after something so beautiful and free.
(it was an accident; he hadn’t meant to escape. he had just never seen a rose before, and the fence had never looked smaller, less present, than it had right then.)
he remembers how the cold ground felt against the agonizing pain, how the dirt and iron tasted in his mouth.
…he remembers the earth beneath him, soaked red in his own blood.
“adam.” he whispers, more to himself than anyone else, testing how the word—no, his name, would sound. then, a little louder to the world: “my name is adam.”
and for the first time in his life, adam felt truly free.
i'm so very glad that i hc'd (for my strq fics) tai to not having unlocked his semblance before he attended beacon and maybe even never unlocking it, because the moment i actually locked in a headcanon for summer's semblance, the very next volume the show decided to explain ruby's semblance in depth and
it's
very similar to what i had in mind for summer. just differently applied.
i want to write.... but i haven’t written and finished anything in *checks clock* nine years and i have so many ideas but no idea where to start.....hjälp....
