Occipital ran a live demonstration of their newest AR/VR/Mixed Reality tech for iOS during CES 2016, some of the highlights are captured here. The seamless transition from AR to VR and back is especially slick if I do say so myself.
The maker of the Structure Sensor, Occipital has acquired a company known as Lynx Laboratories, which launched its own mobile 3-Dimentional scanner on Kickstater some years back.
I love how weird and spooky this giant-dad-head-in-the-room is. With Structure SDK it takes about 15 minutes to put something like this together.

從影片中可以看到，Structure Sensor 是紅外線 3D 掃瞄器，把掃描到的資料透過 Lightning 傳輸回 iPad 後，再由 Occipital 開發的專屬 App 進行軟體分析，把空間中的 3D 物件座標計算出來。我特別喜歡 Occipital 對於行動掃描這件事情的細心與極致，他們設計了吻合各種 iPad 扣環讓使用者選購，讓 Structure Sensor 在你邊移動邊進行 360 度掃描的同時，紮實的固定在 iPad 上面。雖然還沒使用過他們的掃描軟體，但從影片以及之前使用 360 Panorama 的經驗，我相信 Occipital 應該能把它做到一定程度的簡單好用。
Occipital 在思考 Structure Sensor 時，把它定位在一個開放的平台。因此除了 Lightning 以外，Structure Sensor 也支援 USB 供 Android 連接。而除了 Occipital 自己的軟體，Structure Sensor 也提供 API，讓更多開發者可以在上面寫出不同的 3D 掃描應用。
雖然 Structure Sensor 在 Kickstarter 上的募資已經結束，但如果你有興趣，他們的網站上還可以預購，預計明年五月出貨。
