So I know I’m a little bit late to the party, but I only found out about it earlier in the week, but I have decided to join the magical readathon. So, because I only joined it on April 20th, my readathon will end on May 20th.
Here’s a little bit of a background if you’re unsure what the magical readathon is. So essentially it’s a reading challenge that is based on the OWL’s that the characters of Harry Potter take at Hogwarts. So I’ve left a link below to the website, there is a guide that explains all the magical careers you can go into and once you have chosen the career you would like to do, it tells you which OWL’s you would need in order to achieve this career. So essentially there are up to 12 OWL’s and each OWL represents one book that you have to read. On the website below there is also a list of prompts for each of the OWL’s that gives you a hint as to what sort of book you should read.
I chose the alchemist as my career as it required me to take all twelve OWL’s and these are the ones I’ve shown. Some of the books overlap and therefore in total I have 10 books to read for the challenge. If you read the prompts you’ll understand why it is that I have chosen these books. I’ve listed below which books are for each subject just for your own interests. The Astronomy/Potions book isn’t in the photo because I have already finished reading it.
Ancient Runes: Hearts in Atlantis by Stephen King
Arithmancy: Why Zebras Don’t Get Ulcers by Robert M. Sapolsky
Astronomy: All My Friends are Superheroes by Andrew Kaufman
Care of Magical Creatures: The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling
Charms: Eclipse by Stephanie Meyer
Defence Against the Dark Arts: Moby-Dick by Herman Melville
Divination: Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie
Herbology: Insomnia by Stephen King
History of Magic: The Witches by Roald Dahl
Muggle Studies: Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery
Potions: All My Friends are Superheroes by Andrew Kaufman
Transfiguration: Eclipse by Stephanie Meyer
If you would like a full review on any of these books once I’ve read them, please shoot me a message.
