Being kin doesn't make you a fandom authority.
It just makes you an authority on the specific universe of canon that you came from.

“ i got you. it’s gonna be okay, you’re going to be okay.”
hurt meme.
What a beautiful lie.
It’s quiet, eerily so and Shinonome’s continuous reassuring words don’t dissipate the feeling. She knows very well, soldiers fall and that’s the price of war. Blood spurts from her mouth in cough fits and Shinonome panics, cursing under his breath and the action would have made her laugh and chastise him, were not obvious for the pool of blood her stomach is spilling on the ground.
No one will come to heal her from the wound that soon.
Shinonome shouts for a healer, for anyone nearby and she rests her head, finding it more difficult with each second to recognise what’s going on. She hears more curses and words and then, to what seems like Shino blaming himself. His fault, why wasn’t a healer here, among other things that aren’t befitting for a prince but so Shino-like, she can’t help but find it soothing.
“… hey,” she murmurs, sweat falling from her forehead and hears him move frantically. Don’t blame yourself, it’s not your fault, this happens. “Shino… nome… don’t cry….”
With finality, she reassures him with a smile, the action taking what’s left of her energy. Those days of patrol, hearing him tell her any absurdity and laughter can’t come back and she knows as well as him, that fairy tales and a world where no one is hurt are daydreams. Shinonome isn’t a prince charming but in her eyes, he’s the closest to any other boy and that’s what relieves her, how human and flawed he is.
She doesn’t know if she fell in love with him and that’s alright, her heart has learned by now every love is unrequited when it comes to her. Shino has never been someone without admirers and as a close friend, she knows he willl find a partner to support him. It’s a shame she won’t make it to the ceremony when he becomes king one day.
Forcing concentration, she places her hand on his and lays it there, feeling exhaustation numb her legs and eyelids, and distantly, she thinks she hears people rushing, trying to force their way through and — is that father’s voice? She can’t recognise it at all, it sounds so hoarse and far away and someone is gripping her hand to the point it almost hurts.
Whether it was her father’s or the boy next to her, she didn’t care. The coldness in her hand accepted that warmth as a final comfort, and maybe, too, as a goodbye.

Regret is shown in the brush of her hands against the scales, all those scars that do not exist in this time. “I can’t speak for her but you’re so strong, Minerva.” Her precious friend taking care of her child. “You were always the stronger one of us.”
