This was taken 112 years ago in Arizona, USA, on Sunday 31st March 1912 - just a fortnight before the sinking of the Titanic.
It is an autochrome portrait of a Hopi Snake Clan priest, taken in colour by Franklin Price Knott (although it was not published by the National Geographic until 1916).
It isn't colourised.

No, this isn't an Ai-generated nightmare, but actually a colour photo of the ancient Greek princess Io of Argos, transformed into a heifer by Zeus, as performed in the second Delphic Festival in May 1930.

I have enhanced for you this wonderful autochrome by photographer Antonin Personnaz, which captures the moment when the French impressionist painter Armand Guillaumin painted his oil-on-canvas work 'Bathers in Crozant', way back in 1907.

I've enhanced for you this stunningly contemporary-looking autochrome of the original Moulin Rouge - the famous Parisian cabaret venue that burned down in February 1915. This colour photo was taken by Stéphane Passet 109-years-ago, on Wednesday 24th June 1914 (4 weeks before WWI)

Taken 109 years ago, on 2nd September 1914, this remarkable portrait by photographer Joseph D’ Anunzio shows George Eastman (1854-1932), the US entrepreneur who founded the Eastman Kodak Co and popularised the use of photographic roll film.

To my mind, this is one of the most beautiful autochromes ever taken: a study of artists on the banks of the Dordogne near Beaulieu in France. The light, colour & composition is a work of art in itself. It was taken in colour 98 years ago, in 1925, by Jules Gervais-Courtellemont.
