Wednesday 100: The Porcupine

Along the journey to Scotland, a British Major had come seeking Claire’s opinion on a “mysterious” rash that had shown up shortly after the crew’s trip to shore for supplies and entertainment. In his haste and discomfort, the Major hadn’t stopped to obey common manners and knock, instead barging in and finding Colonel Fraser of the American Militia sporting the look of a porcupine upon his face.

“Christ, man, what the devil have you done to yourself?”

After that, Jamie had refused any further acupuncture; professing himself “well enough” while Claire held his hand and called him a stubborn fool.

Peter Lukas out here dying for being too stubborn to reveal the only secret that matters to Elias at this point, the only thing that could derail the ritual of a God that is not his, of a person he tried to kill. Stripped of choice and knowing he'll die, Peter chose not to stop the Watcher's Crown.

          PITY . its not something the god of thunder seeks out , surely doesn’t want to make      anyone feel as though they SHOULD pity him . just the thought makes the god feel far too vulnerable . if he says YES does that make him weak to be dependent on someone’s presence??   there’d be a time he wouldn’t have contemplated such an attachment . the answer would have been absolutely not just to save his pride . the son of odin doesn’t need anyone . is this what humility brings though ?? perhaps .

his gaze flickers upward from where he occupies the chair . one glass held in his hand and the other massaging a temple . ❝ only if you wish . . . i’ll be fine .  i always am  .❞ deep down does he wishes she would ??  yes , but the god isn’t about to admit that .  far too much PRIDE resides within these veins to allow himself to need anyone but himself .

Jack frowned as her cough confirmed what he already knew; neither of them were particularly great at lying, although Cinderella wore her emotions plainly on her face. 

His frown only deepened as she assured him that she would take care of herself. As badly as he wanted to believe her, he knew that he would be as good as useless at selling papes knowing she was feeling unwell. It was the same with the other boys when they were sick- oftentimes he had promised to sell their stacks just to keep them home, even if that meant he didn’t sell one.

Jack figured that was the ‘leader’ in him, always aiming to be the father or brother that so many of them lacked.

His gaze followed to the bag in Cinderella’s hands as he took in carefully n his home, slinging it into Race’s chest almost instantly, the unfortunate bloke that happened to be behind him at the time. 

“Already paid for, Race- take whatever money you make, got it?” he asked with a short nod before turning back to the young woman.
