to the following statements:
I am open to receiving feedback.
I have taken the feedback of others into serious consideration (regardless of my perception of their maturity level).
I regularly make an effort to give direct and honest feedback (rather than keep it to myself and people like-minded to myself).
I have attempted, and still attempt to, communicate across conflicting viewpoints.
I seriously value (or at least seriously acknowledge) that there is value in the knowledge, opinion, and perspectives of others.
I am conscious of the power and influence I exert on (collective) decision-making processes.
I take responsibility for the mistakes I make, especially when I expect the peers whom I supervise to do the same.
When expecting others to take responsibility for the energy they bring into a shared space, I also take responsibility for the energy I bring into a shared space.
I am careful to check when my sense of purpose becomes a sense of self-righteousness.
I actively make myself open to dialogue, such that people with conflicting viewpoints feel comfortable approaching me.
I am willing to disagree, with my coworkers, with my peers, with my supervisors.
I use professionalism as a tool to facilitate (rather than inhibit, silence, distance, or block) communication.
Perhaps this is a growing list.
But speaking for myself, I would like to agree to all of these statements, but I know that I truthfully cannot.
#trying to say what I can, before I completely silence myself / before I am completely silenced.
#By all means, feel free to add to this list, or make your own.
