Leaving studentfilms.com
It was all an experiment to see what the activity was like on the forums. Was trying to find some film-makers and vice-versa, but none of them took the actual steps to acquire me.
I saw composers spamming themselves to come up first on the page, ending up looking desperate without any new info, just simply stating: “looking for projects”.
I got tired of this pointless “competition” and my hopes to pop up on anyone’s radar, so I’m out of the rat-race. No need for me to prove anything. My CV speaks for itself and I’ll never take anymore free jobs unless its a film-maker who I think has great vision, but no faith in my music, I could give them the courtesy to provide them with a “non-usage” demo track. And if they like it, they have to pay for it.
However, most of these indie-filmmakers are still thinking of “mining” many composer’s works, cutting and pasting, telling composers they want them to score their movie, but ending up getting 8 or more people scoring the same movie without knowing, cutting out one cue from each composers maybe 1 hr of music like its nothing. It pisses me off that this shit is still continuing and I have no respect for indie-filmmakers in this regards who has no work ethics.
