For decades, a specific blueprint has been handed down to every graduating class: get the degree, find the “secure” job, and climb the corpo

Poem: ‘Fellow Student’
I went round to Sarah’s flat one night: “Hi man,” she said, “Yeah, you can come in, sure,” apologising as she shut the door – “but not for too long, you know how it is – I’ve got two essays still to write and then exams start – I’m in quite a tizz.” She yawned and laughed, said “I’ve just changed Sam’s nappy, and now he’s fast asleep – at last!” she smiled – “Wow, but he keeps me busy!” “Also…

Learning to Savor the Moment
Learning to Savor the Moment
By Marilyn Turk
It seems like I’ve spent most of my adult life in a hurry.
Raising three sons born within four years and working full time in the big city corporate world forces you to hurry. Looking back, that time seems like a blur of activity.
My sons were involved in different sports which meant they were usually in three different places, often at the same time. In addition, school work had…

When I was a child all I wanted to do was grow up and become an adult. Wear pencil skirts and attend meetings. Work in an office with big glass doors. Have an assistant. Didn’t we all want all this...
Leaving studentfilms.com
It was all an experiment to see what the activity was like on the forums. Was trying to find some film-makers and vice-versa, but none of them took the actual steps to acquire me.
I saw composers spamming themselves to come up first on the page, ending up looking desperate without any new info, just simply stating: “looking for projects”.
I got tired of this pointless “competition” and my hopes to pop up on anyone’s radar, so I’m out of the rat-race. No need for me to prove anything. My CV speaks for itself and I’ll never take anymore free jobs unless its a film-maker who I think has great vision, but no faith in my music, I could give them the courtesy to provide them with a “non-usage” demo track. And if they like it, they have to pay for it.
However, most of these indie-filmmakers are still thinking of “mining” many composer’s works, cutting and pasting, telling composers they want them to score their movie, but ending up getting 8 or more people scoring the same movie without knowing, cutting out one cue from each composers maybe 1 hr of music like its nothing. It pisses me off that this shit is still continuing and I have no respect for indie-filmmakers in this regards who has no work ethics.
Growing apprehension that existence is a rat-race in a trap
There is a growing apprehension that existence is a rat-race in a trap: living organisms, including people, are merely tubes which put things in at one end and let them out at the other, which both keeps them doing it and in the long run wears them out.
