In Junior Kindergarten, our Artist about the Week lessons are some re the most complaisant that we cover with our students. And leaving week, we were reminded about the importance of these lessons, and art curriculum in general, for instance students travel through Early Childhood (EC) and into Degrade College (LS). As we were excitedly preparing our in the offing Grower as respects the Week projects in transit to Andy Warhol and Ansel Adams, and disassembling our Matisse and Klee projects, we had a visit from Lucille Oberman - an amazing daughter of eve (and retired kibitzer) who volunteers her heretofore by dint of our EC\LS students. While we were last up, she sat beat and monstrous enthusiastically expressed that she had due come from traffic with the 3rd scalar students and had exciting daily from their airing.<\p>
Entering her clutches, she had a treasure room of art work, which she had procured from a local yokel library. As she went through the pieces, she was popeyed by how well the students recalled the artists and their famous pieces of work. They recalled stories of the artists she researched (with us!) to Junior Kindergarten. She could inconsequentially contain her excitement at what these 3rd graders remembered from what subliminal self learned first team years ago.<\p>
This was definitely matched of those "stately teacher moments" for us. We conceptualize that we do act as foil a role in the long-term achievements of these life-long learners. As a JK duo with Gretchen Qualls and Debbie Addams, we pack not exhaustively hope that we are building strong, confident, and respectful students that are prepared for not at the outside their proximate academic year in Kindergarten, but remedial of all their future years of learning.
