Housing in Moholt Student Village
Some personal comments on the video :
- My flat looks similar (like all the flats in Moholt)
- Unfortunately, I do not play badminton in my common area.
- I'm used to more diversity in my fridge.
- My bathroom is old without heating in the floor so I'm jealous.
Studentsamskipnaden i Trondheim [SiT]
Studentsamskipnaden i Trondheim means "Student Welfare Organization". It is the non-profit organization providing student services in Trondheim. SiT runs almost all the services that students need to make their academic years as hassle-free and efficient as possible. I think SiT is actually saving lots of time and energy for the students.
The SiT-services include housing, bookshops, cafeterias, health centre, councelling, sports facilities and kindergartens. SiT aims to provide all his services at the lowest possible cost. It is also involved in external, commercial activities such as a travel agency and an academic press. The profits from these operations also benefit students in Trondheim.
SiT is ruled by students through majority in the board room. The chair person is always a student. Students decide what products are sold in the cafes and bookshops. They are also in the operative management of the sports centres and have their own committee for student housing and welfare services. Trondheim is definitely a world class example for student involvment.
