Hi! For the studio ghibli asks: Up on Poppy Hill!

Hmmm. I watched a friend of mine get Instagram cancelled by our friends, in a way that was very identitarian but also nakedly self-interested. It made me totally question the boundaries I had (or didn't have) online, and really shook me out of a specific way of left-wing thinking. I became much more practicing of my own belief in prison abolition, and decided to give people as much grace as possible when they fuck up, or break the rules. I've also become a lot more protective of my own space online. I refuse to allow people to call me "harmful" or "abusive" for disagreeing with them, I don't allow people to dictate moral values to me that I don't agree with, and I put a lot more stake in my actual geographically local community as opposed to people who share arbitrary identity markers online. I don't treat my friends like they're disposable, I believe that if we share a goal in making the world a better and more just place, then we can still be friends even if we disagree on the details. I refuse to engage with bullshit politics where you cancel your friends for disagreeing with you and then do nothing to actually help your local community. Anyway that was my manifesto under a studio ghibli ask. I will be here all week.

The question was unexpected and forward. Certainly not a question he’d expected to hear from Kaiba. But it was clearly serious so he decided it was worth giving an honest answer. 

“…Yes. Yes I have.”

Yuugi shyly shuffled his feet, hands behind his back. He’d thought giving Miho flowers to wish her well on moving was a nice thing to do, but it didn’t seem to make her smile. 

“A-ah, I’m sorry, I just thought you’d enjoy them,” a moment later a thought occurred to him and he perked up, “Don’t think of them as a good bye present; think of them as ‘we will see each other again and there will be more flowers--or something like that.” He suddenly realized he may have said something corny.

Okay, it may be a crime that qilin are not my favorites because I did steal their name for my user, but I am very fond of fae. They're terrifying! And intriguing! And I grew up on fairy stories so I'm very fond of the idea of tiny people who wear flowers for dresses and mushroom caps for hats.
