A drawing of Lucille Ball originally created by well-known caricaturist Al Hirschfeld for an exhibition poster bannering the 1943 MGM musical comedy Thousands Cheer, and later adapted by Ball as the iconic logo for her production company after she folded Desilu Productions in 1968. Lucille used the logo on her CBS television sitcoms The Lucy Show and Here’s Lucy from the late-1960s until the mid-1970s, as well as on a few television specials she starred in afterwards. Ball was the first female president of a major Hollywood production company after she took over the reigns of Desilu following her divorce from Desi Arnaz in 1960, and she continued in that role with her subsequent eponymously named venture. Lucille Ball Productions remains in existence today, and primarily handles the broadcast licensing rights for Here’s Lucy.
