Experiments with Screen Printing and Acrylic

Recently, I have been experimenting with new techniques in my painting practice, particularly by combining screen printing with acrylic painting. My goal is to explore how these two approaches can interact within the same work. For this experiment, I created a portrait of Chinese actor Ge You. In this piece, the face was produced using a screen-printing frame, but instead of traditional screen-printing ink, I used regular acrylic paint. The rest of the painting was then developed directly with acrylic, using brushwork and layered textures. This work is part of a broader series of technical experiments. Before achieving this result, I produced several attempts that were not successful. Screen printing may appear simple, but in practice it can be quite challenging to obtain a precise and satisfying result.

Learning photography Lately, my friends and I have been experimenting with more scenic photography inside one of the workshop rooms. The backdrops, lighting, costumes, and even post-production are all improvised—just what we can pull together while learning from scratch.

It’s not our job, we’re just trying to grow. I hope you’ll enjoy the images nonetheless. Here’s the first one to share.

Remembering that Fall day where we got a little crazy with micing percussion. Everything from a box to a giant water bottle to a mail bin (sorry, U.S. Postal Service), and even playing the drum with the mic itself.
