I’ve decided to call my poem overweight. After writing a few drafts of the poem, I began to realise I was automatically using personification to describe the impacts of the fast fashion industry. I like this becasue it’s symbolic and portrays that humans are the problem. Overweight is an interesting title. It makes you assume what the conceptual art is about, yet it is a different type of “overweight.”
The poem has been difficult to write. After many attempts I finally think I have a decent final draft. This poem has ended up being a jumble of styles. I like how I have used rhyming to attract the reader and give the poem flow. I would like to expand on the idea later on and perhaps create a series of other peoples thoughts too, to compile a larger piece of conceptual art.
I guess I’m calling my work a piece of conceptual art because I feel that just being a poem doesn’t quite cut it. I have considered the layout and presentation of the poem so it is more artistic than just a poem. I know I could have done this so much better and it frustrates me so much that I let so much get in the way of studio this semester. I am glad though that it has happened early on in my degree so that I could learn quicker.
My learning this semester particularly personally I think is really vital and is most valuable to me. I have learnt that I need to focus on time management more, be more decisive and work in a team.
