5/5/2016 you need to take a break sometimes! please always always remember that studying is good and all but you need to stop and breathe once in a while, this week we all decided to take a few days off of studying and going to the library in favour of bbq's, going to the beach, a bit of clubbing and just chilling in bed and it feels great! socialising and relaxing is just as important as passing exams! otherwise medicine will ruin you i am so ready to start the whole studying thing again next week! 😋💪🏻
hello. i am a student looking for motivation to complete my final papers. I love the idea for my paper and have all the information I need, but am having a difficult time actually writing. Any advice on getting hype for writing? And favorite study songs/soundtracks?
The only thing that actually gets me writing papers if I’m not enthusiastic about the subject matter is a really close deadline. No lie I wrote a research paper in 67 hours, and yes that includes doing all the research. Anyway, here are some tips that can help with writing a paper you don’t want to write. The work for me so hopefully they’ll work for you.
So one thing that I do is I make bullet points that I want to hit and put them in the order in which I want to hit them. Then I put my research or whatever or sub points under those paragraph bullets. After that it’s just a matter of actually making the bullet points into flowing sentences. It’s basically like an outline except a lot more detailed.
Another thing is if I’m doing something like a research paper I’ll first organize all my research by color. i.e. For my corset paper pink was history of corsets, yellow was society related things, blue was medical related things, and I can’t remember what green was, but there was definitely a green... From there I made an outline and then wrote the paper to the outline. Since my research was color coded it was easy to flip through and look for what I needed to complete a particular part of the outline.
Back in sophomore year I had a paper where I just took facts/opinions that worked together and wrote random paragraphs then strung them all together into something that resembled a flowing paper. I went back and edited it so it would actually be a flowing paper and it actually went pretty well.
As for songs/soundtracks that’s not really something I can give favorites for because I’m sure 90+% of my followers would not be able to work to my music (yay extreme metal) and I wouldn’t be able to work to theirs. But within my music I choose either instrumental albums or music that I’m so familiar with that I can tune out the lyrics. I guess listen to music that won’t distract you.
Reviewing Lecture Notes
Your lecture notes form the basis of your final consolidated notes and your entire examination preparation is based on these. The following should be done on a daily basis: 1. Read through your lecture notes. 2. Underline headings and subheadings. 3. Correct spelling mistakes and rewrite illegible portions. 4. Fill in any gaps. 5. Underline or highlight important sentences or paragraphs. 6. Make sure you understand the concepts. 7. If you use the Cornell system, fill in the key words in the left-hand column. Via www.wits.ac.za
Check you exam timetables !!!!
I had to do lot of careful planning and scheduling last year for AS (grade 11). Since i was sitting all of A level math in one year and AS further math on my own and a bunch of other tests (SAT, SAT subject tests in chem, phy and math2, TOEFL). This included fighting with the school to let me do january exams, obtaining the NOC to write exams at British council, METICULOUS planning to make sure my dates didnt clash and so on. Infact in june, i had two further math exams back to back in one morning. BUT the fact that i had known this was going to happen gave me time to cope with it. I had my SAT subject tests (3 of them), The day before my Physics exam. But at the end i got through everything because i planned everything as best as i could. Just this morning, I thought let me see if the jan 2015 timetables have been released. I went on edexcel website and saw they were and was chuffed. But then i found out the FP2 (further math exam module) was not being offered. I had already started studying for it and was done with a third of it. Only the M3 (Mechanics module) is being offered. Finding this out early now gives me a chance to focus on mechanics. If i found this out even a month later it would have ruined my chances of understanding the material fully before exam. So My Advice is - CHECK YOUR TIMETABLE AS SOOON AS THEY ARE RELEASEDD !!!!
