Hi! I was just wondering if you would have any sort of tips on how to stick to routines or habits? I kind of have a problem of convincing myself that I can do it tomorrow, then that leads to me not following through with the routines I have planned etc. Thanks and I love your blog so much :)
The productivity app Notion has really helped me with planning stuff out. It goes on laptops and your phone. It has things such as habit trackers, calendar, academic notes, journaling, and more. Basically you press the new page button and pick which template. It’s been amazing to help me stick to my routine. I have all my due dates and to do list organized in one program. From academic to personal life, it’s all there.
Always make a to do list or a goals list of what you want to get done. If anything, prioritize the list. Apps like Studybunny and Forest keep me on track while doing any task.
When it’s bigger tasks, I break them down into smaller steps and don’t cram them. I give myself time and steps to avoid overwhelming myself.
I also have visual reminders besides my planner and digital. I have a dry erase board area and it helps me to remember my to do for the day. Consider getting a dry erase on your fridge.
I have ADHD so I give myself timed breaks which are basically small rewards after I’m done with my scheduled tasks. Usually on a day for school I have a schedule so I dont lose track of time.
And because I have ADHD I can easily get off track so I try to wake up at the same time, eat at similar times, go to bed at the same time, do my morning and night hygiene at the same times. Eventually that will become a routine for you. You have to set your own times and preferences. I also add in small self care things like meditation and yoga.
To really hone in on any habit, you have to be self aware and hold yourself accountable. Anytime you’re deviating from the plan, you have to put yourself back on track instead of ignoring it. This is why it helps to have visual and digital aids that remind you so you can feel accountable and ready to be productive in all areas of life. Try to limit life habits to less than five so you’re not overwhelmed. For example, exercise is hard enough to start for some, so try not to add a ton of habits on top. That’s how you avoid procrastination and being overwhelmed!
