How To Stop Hair Fall In Monsoon
Monsoon is oft-considered a season that plays havoc with your hair. This high-on-humidity weather is the main reason behind hair fall. Hair’s chemical structure makes it unusually sensitive to airborne hydrogen. In this weather, your hair absorbs hydrogen, forming bonds, and swells until the smooth cuticle erupts to make them frizzy. But, you can take care of your hair by doing some simple and small everyday things to stop hair fall in monsoon.
1. Try and avoid getting your hair wet in the rain The pollutants in the rain may weaken the hair bulb, making your hair dull and thin. Always cover your hair before going out to protect it from humidity. Remember to keep an umbrella with you at all times in order to keep your scalp as dry as possible. Even if you do get drenched, make sure you wash away the rain afterwards. Shampoo your hair 2-3 times a week to keep your sticky and sweaty scalp healthy and wash off the rain water that is loaded with pollutants. Given the delicate care your hair needs during monsoons, use a mild shampoo which will nourish your hair and help reduce hair fall due to breakage. 2. Include Conditioner In Your Regime A rich conditioner is essential to not only combat the frizz that rain brings, but also to keep the hair shaft healthy and moisturized. When applying conditioner, use a wide-tooth comb to spread it well. Remember to rinse with cold water to seal in nourishment, strengthen and add extra shine. 3. Keep Your Hair Dry Wet hair is weak and susceptible to breakage. How you dry your hair also determines how strong or weak your hair is. Use a microfiber towel to dry your hair as it absorbs the water very quickly and causes minimum friction between your hair and towel to reduce hair fall and breakage. Always gently air dry your hair first and then comb it with a wide-toothed comb. Avoid using heated hair equipment as they make your hair even drier and rough during the monsoons. 4. Regular warm oil massages Your hair turns rough and dry and ultimately leads to heavier hair fall during the monsoons. A quick warm oil massage, followed by a hair wash, can make your hair soft and manageable. Oil your hair but massage gently to avoid breakage. Once or twice a week is good for nourishment, but doing it more often is not recommended, as your scalp is already oily due to the weather. Also, avoid styling your hair too often. 5. Eat A Holistic Diet Go easy on junk food as it causes hair to thin out because of the heavy preservatives and processing that junk food has. Cut down on caffeine because it dehydrates and causes hair fall. Add fresh fruits, leafy vegetables, whole grains, and protein-rich foods to your plate to tackle hair fall in the rainy season. Sprouts are like a superfood for your hair, especially in the monsoon. They are rich in fiber and nutrients such as vitamin E, potassium and iron. All these are effective constituents of lustrous hair that prevent hair loss during the monsoons. You may also add fresh fruits, leafy vegetables and raw salads to your diet. Most importantly, drink at least 8-12 glasses of water during the course of the day

The Countdown Begins
Hi guys! My name is Savannah Freed and I'm a junior at the University of Michigan. However, this semester I will be studying at the Lorenzo de' Medici School through Wells College in Florence, Italy. A week from today I will embark on an incredible four month journey. Not only have I been given the opportunity to study in Florence, I also will get to explore several different countries during my stay. This photo blog will serve as an insight into my travels, discoveries, and fascinations across Europe. Feel free to comment and ask questions here, or contact me via Facebook.
