Ok so I’ve been seeing a lot of #studyblrsgetreal and I wanted to share my piece. I’ve been posting some photos of my work during the exam period in the hopes that I can inspire, and be inspired by, others and while my notes are never the most aesthetically pleasing I feel like by posting my stuff it has increased my work productivity. However, it’s not all pretty notes and inspirational quotes. The pictures above are the unfortunate and gritty truth. Exam revision is 6am starts, black coffee cups littering your desk, piles of notes shoved together and stacked in a messy pile underneath your arm as you scribble furiously away into a dog-eared folder. It’s chocolate bar wrappers, eating as much junk food as necessary to get you through, never being properly hydrated and not having eaten a vegetable in weeks if not months. It’s stress and anxiety and upset and anger all wrapped up in sweatpants and an oversized CityPlumbing tshirt with ratty hair and no makeup. It’s 6am to 11pm full-time graft. It’s sticky notes placed haphazardly across every available surface, illegible notes that got a bit too wet when you were carrying them home. Hell, it’s notes that you take and never review again, all the paper and the work you do only to look at once and then bin or shove into a cupboard. It’s not all glamour and prettiness but who can blame the studyblr community for only documenting those bits? After all, we’re not trying to petrify the younger years; they’ll come to the realization in time. The again, no-one should have the wool pulled over their eyes and think that high-school, college, sixth form, university or higher education is going to be a breeze and all that matters is aesthetics. Don’t get me wrong, Studyblr is great and I owe them a lot in terms of motivation to get my butt into gear but I’m glad people are picking up on the #studyblrsgetreal because, as my parents always say, you should always hear both sides of every story…
