"You know," she started after a few minutes of silence studying the manuals, "I hate those refresher courses. You*d think we'd know what to do after so many times, but nope. Still toddlers." It also gave the illusion of normalcy, how much they could have it here. Others would have refresher courses on maybe Microsoft Office, or new ideas on education; but the apparent ordinariness faded quickly when she slid him the manual on C-4 over the slick polished table. Somehow reminded her of the long nights cramming before a big exam, but if they'd fail this, it could very literally be the end of the world.
"Imagine though not having a handler on the other side. Just having to disarm and dismantle it by yourself. Keeps me up at night, sometimes.” As if to emphasise her argument, she suppressed a yawn and shook her plastic cup a bit. Only a few droplets remained. “How are you doing? Keep going or ready for a break?”
