blacksmiths--or people who know stuff about blacksmithing--i have a possibly stupid question that feels like it should be obvious but i want to be sure: does the anvil get hot when you're working a hot piece of metal on it. could a person theoretically come up behind a blacksmith who is working at their forge and put their hands on the anvil to pin them against it. also are anvils even high enough to do that even if they don't get hot.

Nothing yet!♡
The various possessions of four roommates (found on Facebook). I feel like I've known several Ethans and was definitely the Ethan of one social group once upon a time.
So this was in response to a reply made to that one headcanon post. I won't link it, you know which one it is by now, I'm sure. But I thought it deserved its own headcanon post! Plus a short character study, we'll get to that.
So I've already mentioned that Blakk Industries is a very large presence in Slugterra. It makes sense. But how large is it exactly? I've already discussed its influence in modern Slugterran society and the advancements it's made to better that life in the public eye. But in terms of actual physical mass, it is equally as sprawling.
In order to keep up with demand, there are manufacturing plants scattered across the Western 99 Caverns, I'd be willing to wager. Small corporate offices where anyone at any time can go to get information, apply for jobs, ask about or even suggest things related to what they would like to see happen next. The stretch across this landmass is impressive, but again, understandable when we realize we're dealing with a monopolizing corporate entity here. It's easier to dwarf competition while delivering to the consumer when it's more widespread. The corporate office and the public labs themselves are likely in a place that is easy for everyone to get to, likely one of the more populous caverns.
After all, you can still capitalize on tourism here too, showing off what the Industries is planning and building next for bought tours of very open labs and attentive staff. This garners more public favor at the end of the day, showing off more ideas that advance the current society.
It is not The Citadel in Slag Rock.
The Citadel is Thaddius' own private offices and labs. Blakk Industries sprouts from The Citadel, his monument of conquest, but it is not part of the public eye. Remember, he's trying to maintain a facade here, and the corruption he's brought upon his own 'home' cavern would not be a very pretty public image. The only people we see in canon ever going into or out of The Citadel are Thaddius himself, his inner circle, the personal Blakkguard, and handfuls of mercenaries and ne'er-do-wells he uses for field-testing the Ghouling process. And the Shane Gang but the story is about them, so obviously, they'd try to corner this man on his own home turf...which is against several points of the Art of War but that's semantics. There is a reason Thaddius' more egregious crimes against humanity happen in Slag Rock while he kind of nitpicks his lesser crimes across the broader caverns, Slag Rock will not hurt (or hurt less) the public image of the Industries.
Basically what happens at The Citadel, stays in The Citadel.
Now. To the actual point and general character study of our favorite asshole.
Thaddius is a very charismatic man, that's been discussed. What he can't sway with charisma, he sways with the promise of power and money. But he is not an idiot in this regard. Thaddius Blakk is dangerous not just because of his social influence, but because he is very intelligent in how he operates. He wants his legacy to be eternal. He would not set it up to crumble the instant he is pulled away for long periods of time.
In a way, he is paranoid in this stage alone. The Industries is set up to continue running in his absence, setting a shift in the chain of command and having a complex series of contingencies in the event that the head of the Industries is unable to perform his role. Blakk Industries is made to run even when he is not there to run it. Perhaps especially in times he is not there to run it.
As soon as Thaddius disappears, plans devised years ago when the Industries was just starting up go into play in the inner circle. The factories never stop, the R&D never stops. Manufacturing never stops. The public corporate offices never stop.
What does stop? The Citadel. An inconsequential monolith in a ravaged cavern, the private offices and labs and Ghouling facilities all stop. It is the only thing under the Blakk name that goes dark in Thaddius' absence, even the Ghouling outposts scattered across the rural caverns are reworked to keep going under facade of being product storehouses. We, as the audience, only ever see The Citadel in greater screentime.
But Blakk Industries as a whole does not stop. Blakk Industries is, by corporate and legal design, eternal.
10 people you’d like to get to know 🦒
Yay! Thanks for the tags @sawymredfox & @sp00kymulderr !! I’d love to get to know you both! Let’s go get ice cream!
Last song: Track and Field by JJerome 87. This is my song of the summer. It’s so fun and as a former track runner I can’t resist a bop about my sport.
Currently Watching: Beef season 2. I loved season 1 so much and this season is not disappointing at all. Oscar and Carey have such amazing on screen chemistry and it’s fun to see them both going out of their minds.
Current Obsession: Trying to befriend the stray cats that live in my apartment complex. There’s a pair of calicos that I have dubbed Dingle 1 & Dingle 2 and all I want is to scratch their heads. Working on earning their trust by telling them how sweet and perfect they are every time I walk by their spot.
Currently Reading: Page One to Done by Jessica Brody. Trying to train my brain to fast draft rather than painstakingly edit and revise while writing. A shitty first draft that is complete is better than an incomplete draft with like one perfect page. I am setting out to write the shittiest first draft of my life.
Currently Working On: Skira part 5, an Ellie POV for afoaf, and Second Chances part 4.
Currently Wearing: A green tank top and black running shorts.
Last Google Search: Paintings that were lost on the Titanic, for an original short story I wrote that I might be thinking about expanding on.
Favorite Flower: Sunflowers, lilacs, daisies and any kind of wildflower.

hello, my babies! <3 I have officially "completed" my move two hours away to a whole new city ahead of starting a new and very exciting job in about a week as (drumroll please) a professor! WOOO! I did it! and also, by move "completed", I mean that me, all my pets, and all my crap are chaotically scattered about my new home amongst piles of boxes and scrambling to accomplish new job tasks while recovering from said exhausting move! ANYWAY, I will manage to write you a Wicked Wednesday drabble before midnight hopefully. stayed tuned! <3
