The rain is coming down so hard Richie can barely see. He is freezing and completely soaking wet. He pushes some hair out of his face, stumbles around a corner and almost trips, but manages to catch himself at the last minute. He takes a deep breath and looks around. Surely he has to be close.

And then he sees the building. Ben’s building.

Barely looking around, Richie stumbles into the street, and almost gets hit by a car. It honks as Richie yells and flips it the bird. He rights himself and keeps moving. When he gets to the otherside, he takes a breath before climbing the steps to the buzzer.

Holding his arms close to himself, Richie shivers as he tries to find Ben’s apartment number. He pushes the button.

Nothing.

He pushes again.

Still nothing.

Pushing again, he holds it down for a long time.

“What the fuck?” Ben’s voice cuts through.

“Ben. It’s me. Let me in.”

Silence.

“Ben. Please. I’m freezing my nuts off out here.”

“It’s pouring rain. Why are you here?” Ben asks.

“I want to talk to you. You left- You left before- Please.” Richie’s whiney and near tears and he fucking hates himself for it, but Ben had left him alone at the bar and Richie wants to make sure he’s ok, wants to talk to Ben more than he’s ever wanted to talk to anyone in his life.

“Please let me in, Ben.” He lets out a sob. “Please.”

47. Archive Of Our Own, Fanfiction.net or Tumblr - where do you prefer to post and why?

i have not used ff.net in like seven years. i think i prefer ao3 to tumblr mostly because of the tagging system. tumblr is so much harder to get your work seen by people unless you have a lot of followers, and especially because tumblr’s tagging system is so shitty and so many posts don’t even show up in the tags. fics can also get lost on your blog amongst all the other shit you post but on ao3 it’s all there, nice and neat and tagged and rated and you can search for what you want and just hope people have tagged stuff properly.

okay COMMENTING and FEEDBACK. i hate the world of fanfiction because of the way people go about leaving (or not leaving) feedback. it’s such a simple thing to leave a comment on a fic you’ve read, even it’s something as basic as “wow i loved [this part]” or “omg i never thought about [this thing] before” or just copying and pasting a quote that you liked. it’s the most motivating thing in the world for a lot of authors to see what people think of their writing, and the ratio of hits to kudos to comments is ridiculous. if you liked it, why wouldn’t you click on the button that shows the author you liked it? how else do you expect authors to know what kind of stuff their readers are into and what they wanna see more of? i know fanfiction is not the place to go looking for validation and you’re supposed to be doing it for yourself and all that, but feedback HELPS. it’s MOTIVATING. it’s ENCOURAGING. especially for multichap fics that take weeks or months to write (like my fic is currently at 175k and i’ve been writing it since october. a lot can change in that length of time and motivation fluctuates and getting comments and messages is so fucking motivating). EVEN IF IT’S JUST MAKING THE AUTHOR FEEL VALIDATED. EVEN IF IT’S JUST STROKING THEIR EGO. maybe that one comment is all they needed to kick their own asses into gear and get back to their wips that they abandoned. anyway. please leave comments people.

You’re 100% correct though. Also... this is literally a horror fandom? What did they expect? The people who could actually read through the book and sit through the movies are the ones producing the content. It isn’t a bunch of soft uwu fluff-loving babies out here. It’s grown adults with an affinity for literal horror in films and literature.

Why is that concept so difficult to grasp???

So I really want to re-read IT. I read it only 10 months ago but I have a heard time remembering the finer details because my memory is garbage

But idk if I can do it, man.

Like, I love reading but it's so long. And sometimes I just can't handle Stephen King's writing style.

Like, it's detailed... but a little too detailed. Like, "Mr. King, sir. I don't care to know the exact share of green each leaf on that tree is. Please focus on the plot."

And ever time he describes women's boobs and the euphemisms he uses for them. Like, sir, please just say tits and move on with your life. (I started reading The Long Walk and saw that he used the phrase "token nubs." I immediately quit reading and that was on page three)

And I now he was on cocaine while wearing this novel but I cannot excuse that scene towards the end of the novel.

The only thing motivating me to re-read the book is the Losers Club but there's plenty of fanfic to choose from where they're characterized well. So...
