Stef Stuntpilot and Firebreathing
“worked” all day, then went to Marthe’s at night for a drink before we went to the International Student Club. We played “Stef Stuntpilot” which is a game for 6 year-olds that was BANNED 10 years ago because too many people in the Netherlands were using it as a drinking game…LOL It was really fun, we also played “Jungle Speed” a card game of course to drinking. At the International Student Club, it was Brazilian themed, so lots of music we didn’t know, but they also had Brazilian foods and drinks.

Seriously, spent so much time in lab! We studied the effect of enzymes papain and alcalase on pea protein solubility. This involved extraction, isolation of the pea protein from a commercial dried pea product, solubility tests, and mass spectrometry. Our results were not what we expected…but nonetheless they are results and I’m glad I’ll never have to step foot into that lab again lol
SSR-W, one of Wageningen University’s student social clubs (student organizations) held a masquerade where they taught people how to firebreathe, make your own cocktails, and party. I met up with Sharon, Geraldine, Ancois, and Kerry. FINALLY met another American undergrad, Kelly! Also met another Canadian, Nicole who is actually from the same university as Jordan. While my friends hung around the bonfire, I learned how to firebreathe by first practicing with water. So basically, I spat on myself for a solid 5 minutes until I tried it! You first place enough lamp oil in your mouth that it touches the front of your teeth. Then you fill your lungs with as much air as possible, and without really opening your lips, you blow as hard as you can up and out at a torch of fire. It was AWESOME. I did it a couple of times, but got sick of the taste of the lamp oil. They recommended we wash it out of our mouths by drinking…so that’s what we did! We made cocktails, had flaming shots, and went downstairs to the masquerade. There were pole dancers, a bar, DJ, and lots of students. Of course, I requested Titanium by David Guetta, and lost it. Biking back was very difficult…and I don’t actually know what time I got back. It was a fantastic night, and I’m planning to travel with the girls!
