Another fall themed Matt fic. This one is more of a blurb. Pretty fluffy and a little angst. Hope y’all enjoy.
You feel your heart thud against your chest. The corn maze was much scarier at night. But maybe that was what was so enticing about it. You were there with Matt but split up because you disagreed in where to go. But you felt him close to you. The crush of the fallen corn and the white cloud passing through your lips with every breath. The sun had set and you did not want to be stuck out here longer than necessary. “Matt? Matt?!” You yell. Feeling eyes on you but with a sudden brush of the corn you bolt. It was probably the wind but you were so skittish, you thought better safe than sorry.
As you are running you look back and run into something solid with an oof. “I knew you’d be running into my arms,” Matt says. “Whatever, can you help me up?” He extends an arm and you rise from the ground. “You know if I didn’t know any better I’d think you were scared.” “You wish,” you reply rolling your eyes. “No? I heard you running earlier. I bet your heart was beating so fast you felt it in your ears.” His incessant teasing was taking a new turn on you. Was he flirting? “We need to get out soon did you find a map at the checkpoint?”, you say changing the subject. “What checkpoint?” “The one you insisted was on the left and we split up about! Do you really not have one?” “No, sorry.” His casual attitude was irritating. How could he be so calm. Thankfully your phone was fully charged and there were lights on the path so you wouldn’t be stumbling in the dark.
Out of the corner of your eye you notice him smirking to himself. “What’s funny?” “You look kind of pretty when you’re mad,” he says as you both walk through the field, looking over to you and back. “Only kind of?” You tease walking faster trying to beat the sun. “Especially in this light,” he says and grabs hold of your hand. “You mean the dark? C’mon we need to leave before there’s a searchpa-“. You’re stopped by the sudden crash of his lips against yours. With your face hot with desire and embarrassment you freeze. “You got a thing for corn?”, your confusion seems to attract him. He goes to cup your jaw, thumb brushing your cheek and you can’t help but fall into it. “You could say that”, he smiles going in for another kiss.
