He fortunately had already had the misfortune to get to know the Holmes children, figured out their antics and habits even if they ever changed with age. So he took a minute to assess her explanation, though it was still with obvious disapproval ( going on a date with an older boy, even one of age to drink! he would never allow Rosie the tribulation! what was Mycroft doing?! ). He glanced at his watch, and rubbed between his tired eyes in exasperation.
