coming   back   to   the   capital   of   the   dusk   court   had   always   been   about   reconnecting   with   her   friends.   wendi   had   been   aware   that   there   were   a   plethora   of   new   fae   in   their   court,   but   she'd   never   expected   that   she   would   meet   someone   that   had   her   intrigued.   his   flirting   was   something   that   had   remained   in   her   head,   making   her   giddy   for   days   since   she'd   first   run   into   him.   "i   think   i   might   actually   like   a   mainlander."   she   commented   to   her   friend.   "am   i   crazy   for   that?"

expectations had wrapped their claws around her throat and inseparably stuck on it ever since she was born. her mother always expecting to be her doom, her father to become the warrior that she now was, and what a sad thing it was that all of them were met. the male sitting across the table from her, however, was the complete opposite of what she expected a peregryn fae should be. the atmosphere between the last two remaining at the dinner table was a high contrast of the calmness that seeped off carden and the stiff coldness radiating from celeste. despite feeling the urge to leave the table, she decided to take her time with finishing her wine. it was also a beneficial decision, for the wine stash in her chambers. she was surprised to see him still lingering though. " you seem deep in thought, " she noted simply, locking her eyes with his dark hues, her head slightly bent and her fingernails tapping against her glass. " have you any updates on the other courts revelations about the return of magic ? "

the   return   of   magic   to   the   guests   within   his   court   wasn't   unwelcomed,   however   it   was   a   cause   for   concern   in   the   fact   that   he   had   had   yet   to   meet   with   a   few   more   of   the   high   rulers   of   the   courts.   it   wasn't   ideal   to   wait   as   long   as   he   had   to   meet   the   other   high   rulers   of   the   courts   on   the   mainland,   however   he   wouldn't   dwell   on   that   as   he   came   across   one   of   the   few   he'd   had   to   meet.   stepping   into   the   space   the   other   had   been   occupying.   "hello,   high   ruler."   he   spoke   greeted   the   other   with   confidence.   "pleasure   to   meet   you,   i   am   high   lord   yijun   of   the   dusk   court."

"my   sister,   do   you   want   to   do   something   stupid?"   the   second   youngest   dragomir   proposed.   was   it   smart   to   go   about   getting   into   some   sort   of   trouble   in   the   dusk   court?   probably   not,   but   that   had   never   stopped   him   in   the   past.   it   was   the   exact   reason   that   he   had   found   himself   in   a   number   of   different   sticky   situations.   even   including   how   he   had   ended   up   falling   in   love   with   a   gaean   fae.   "we   should   try   to   get   more   knowledge   on   the   dragons,   what   do   you   say?"

in his mind he was swearing off the door which made a soft squeaking sound, surely right then when he actually wanted to quietly sneak off, despite the fact that he was certain about it not making any sound the last time it was opened. it must have been just his luck, but as the door was finally closed he turned around just to be surprised by a shadow of a man. through   the   event   held   by   the   dusk   court   taylan   had   wanted   to   at   the   bare   minimum   introduce   herself   to   more   of   the   dusk   fae.   especially   those   of   the   inner   circle.   however   establishing   a   relationship   of   sorts   with   any   of   the   dusk   fae   would   be   beneficial   to   the   emissary   in   her   pursuit   of   getting   information.   the   youngest   draven   had   become   aware   of   the   high   family   in   her   time   of   being   in   the   dusk   court,   she   just   hadn't   had   the   chance   to   talk   to   all   of   them.   so   far   having   only   met   the   general   and   younger   lord   of   the   high   family.   spotting   the   youngest   of   the   high   family   she   approached   her.   "lady   nari?"   she   asked   as   she   stepped   up   to   the   older   female.
