The public demo update is now live on itchio! Adds ~13,500 words and finishes off Act One! The update covers:

Hiiii Fen I have a new ask for you. How would the RO's react to seeing a fit MC (who usually dresses and acts pretty reserved) without a shirt on for the first time? Like the first thing they notice is abs and a waist that's just as slutty as Aurynn's.

(Applies for a shirtless mc with any body type too)

Kieran: looks mc up and down and then quickly averts their eyes with a scowl. More affronted by their own attraction and so decides to ignore mc to subsequently ignore their own inner turmoil. Don’t speak to them until you’re decent.

Nihm: startled yelp (titty/tummy jumpscare) and afterwards they cant decide if its more appropriate to look away or if it would be rude to ignore it (since L is of the mind that their tits are down here, look at them when they’re talking to you). Alternates between intense focus and shielding their eyes.

Lilith/Lucien: “oh my fuckignng gods.” Steals mcs shirt. This is their new pillowcase. Hope you weren’t attached to that shirt cuz chances are you’re never getting it back. Shamelessly simps after mc.

Samira: Covers up being flustered (and mad at herself for being attracted to mc) by getting irritated. Chucks a shirt or towel at mc like put something decent on. fucks sake

Aurynn: stares shamelessly and admiringly; isn’t shy or stingy with the compliments. Turns it into a flirting match and an ogling session.

my MC Bona for @stygiansun-totaleclipse ! I usually just call her Bon. had a lot of fun with figuring out her design even when it took me months lol.

I was going to ramble about her in length below, but my head hurts at the time of uploading this so I'll just put her in-game stats for now!

I get the lines are somewhat blurred for some games like in Chronicles of Taldun and other games that prominentely use art but Infinite Stars is primarily a visual novel.

That’s fair!! I know the lines between interactive fiction, visual novels, ChoiceScript, Twine, Ren’Py, and other choice-based games can indeed get blurry. („• ֊ •„)

However, I wanted to celebrate interactive storytelling in general, not a strict genre classification. Some of the games are more text-based, some lean more visual novel, and some are somewhere in between and that’s okay!! I included them because I love stories where choices, character interaction, romance, angst, worldbuilding, and player involvement matter. (˶>⩊<˶)

I also think art and writing can be discussed separately while still appreciating the whole project. For example, Infinite Stars is primarily a visual novel, yet the writing and art are not made by the same person. That does not mean I think the writing cannot still be enjoyed and talked about within the broader interactive fiction/choice-based storytelling space.

Fascinatingly enough, the reverse can also be true (๑ᵔ⤙ᵔ๑). For example, there is a text-based interactive fiction called Stygian Sun: Total Eclipse that has wonderful art made by the author. That art absolutely deserves praise, even though the game itself is not presented in a way that would make me call it a visual novel.

To me, the presence or absence of visuals does not erase the interactive storytelling, the writing, or the choices. These projects can exist in different formats while still being worth celebrating together.

Yet again a wonderful point and thank you for your comment!! ⸜(｡˃ ᵕ ˂ )⸝♡. There are so many different kinds of interactive fiction, visual novels, and choice-based stories, so if anyone has favorites, please feel free to share them too.

I've been playing @stygiansun-totaleclipse and have been having a great time. Here is a compilation of my drawings of Cyra, my MC

First drawings

Cyra is a gentle and sincere person. Her manners are polished over years of discipline. Cyra is well acquainted with politics, even if she'd rather stay out of it. She likes to play the flute during her leisure time. However, when it is time for battle, she wields her elder brother's spear.

With Cyra's proficiency in illusion magic, she is a charismatic story teller, weaving images with her ichor. She still tries to meet her mother's expectations despite the strain on their relationship. Forgiveness has been given. Cyra doesn't want to lose anyone else
