Update on me reading the fic shut up and dance with me, I've finished chapter 10 and I've been absolutely loving it, you can really see the effort the author Wittyy puts into research on dance (+ mullet) and the scene where the characters really are dancing are so accurate to the source material because when you look at the videos they link in the end you'll find that "oh yeah, they do [insert what Wittyy described]!" and it's so cool to see it all match up
My favourite accurate portrayal of the dance in text is the one for Pidge and Hunk's audition dance, specifically the line "Their moves are together and then separate, but even when they’re doing their own thing, it fits together so perfectly that Keith can’t question it" and when I watched the video I found that it was the perfect way to describe what was going on and honestly I think this is a strong suit of Wittyy, they observe what they see and put them perfectly into words. It's not the exact motion that they describe, it's what the motions convey and how they seem, they looked past the actual happenings and went straight for the essence of it, which is way more impactful and useful to understanding what's happening and shows that they get what's going on
Another thing I love about their work: the long ass fucking chapters, like I can't just gobble them all up in one go, yes, thank you you fucking saint holy shit you rly got me drinking all this up like
