Bella was used to strange creatures. She was accustomed to new beasts being in every place, with each monster volatile and furious. It was becoming commonplace, but as was the increasing chance that one could die from a simple mistake. She shouldn’t have wandered off without the others, no matter how tempting it was to find some dazzling beauties before breakfast. Instead she found a shadow creature, one a bit quicker and fighting considerably different than what she was accustomed to.
No matter how many strikes she took, the thing refused to die. Not even succubi were this daunting of enemies. And yet the thing vanished in a burst of flame from a single weapon. Well, single type of weapon coated in fire.
Panting, she looked over at him. A spellsword? No, those generally had swords, though they had the same mysterious aura about them. What was he? A mage of some sort? She wondered if the fire was what had ended the creature, and considered using a Black Mage asterisk next time she saw it.
"You have … my deepest thanks." She said, still minding respectfulness. "That thing certainly was troublesome."
Oh, jeez. She really was grateful for his help. That was hysterical. She was so grateful, she sounded like her words were filled with respect. Of course, reverence wasn't entirely new for the redhead. He'd felt it before from those younger than him, and occasionally from other members, who would deny it with every fiber of their being. But the respect was there. After all, at least in his eyes, he deserved it.
There wasn't much anyone but the keyblade wielders could do in terms of releasing the hearts of the creatures, but there was still some strategy for defeating the Heartless. Even if it was a waste to just dispose of them without their hearts returning to Kingdom Hearts.
Oh well. There'd be more. There usually was.
What was she making him out to be, he wondered. Someone with great power, surely. Not far from the truth, his arrogance told him. And that very same arrogance, mixed with general mischief, led to him milking the situation for every last opportunity.
"It's called a Heartless. You're very lucky it did not land a fatal blow."
For someone as laid-back as he was, he pulled off the whole 'mysterious, and ominous' thing pretty damn well.
