“You know Takamin,” Subaru bristles and crosses his arms behind his head, “ever since you got to this school, Chii-chan-senpai’s attention has only been on you.”

Both of them watch the mentioned senior, who is fussing over their fellow basketball club members. Laughter booms across the court, and even some tears glisten on some faces as they say their goodbyes to their seniors. There are still some weeks left before they actually graduate but… A couple weeks flies by faster than two years. At least that’s what Subaru assumes is the reason for their tears.

Trickstar consists of second years, and Subaru doesn’t really have a senior who he would consider close to him, so he just scrunches his eyebrows at the flow of tears on the other guys’ faces. What are they getting so emotional for? It’s just a graduation. It’s not like they are dying. If they really want to, they’ll get to see the seniors again. Right?

Subaru chews around on his lip before he tears his head away to look at Midori and grins at him. “I’m a little jealous!”

That earned him a full body shudder, and Subaru watches in amazement as Midori’s expression distorts from apathetic to horror to disgust within a matter of seconds. “Keep him,” he groans and buries his hands into his palms, “By any means, keep him. I don’t want him.”

The corners of his lips fall and his eyes widen. That’s… not the response he expected. Despite all his complaints about Chiaki, Subaru still respects him as a person. He was the first one who called out to him. The first one who supported him. The first… real idol he’s seen at this school.

His eyes wander, right towards Chiaki’s back, surrounded by all the other guys. Even if Subaru unfolded his arms to try and grab his back, he wouldn’t be able to reach him. To him Chiaki is…

Then…

“Akehoshi-senpai?”

Subaru grins yet again, this time wider than before. “Then don’t mind if I do!”
