Dear Gus & Magnus,
This morning I asked Mom what she had planned for the day, then told her I thought we should go look at Subaru Ascents. The dealership had a 2021 model with 30,000 miles, 500 miles less than her Outback. I worked with Walt to figure out what we should get out of our trade-in, then pulled the trigger. We looked at new ones, but for the price, we couldn't pass this one up. It feels so much more spacious inside and we're excited to add it to the fleet.
The real catalyst to buying a bigger car came because we're taking Yiayia to St. Louis next weekend and thinking about how we'll get there. It was going to be an uncomfortable ride for Mom because she'd be wedged in between your carseats, no matter which of our vehicles we took. A couple of years ago we faced the same problem and I tried for over a year to find a full-size crew cab truck to replace mine, but I never found one I liked -- mostly because electric vehicle technology is still developing. Switching Mom's car out today felt like a no-brainer, though, because we put about 7,500 miles a year on hers, versus the 20,000 a year we put on mine because of work trips.
