I LOVE it when Star Trek brings back actors for a different role! It’s awesome!

Also these were rushed so some of them don’t have all the roles that the actor played.

The first one is Vaughn Armstrong who most notably played Admiral Maxwell Forest in Star Trek: Enterprise.

The second is Jeffery Combs who is best known for playing Weyoun and Brunt in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, as well as Commander Shran in Star Trek: Enterprise.

The third is John Fleck who played the Chairman of the Tal Shiar, Koval, in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine as well as the recurring character Silik in Star Trek: Enterprise.

The fourth is Marc Alaimo who played Gul Dukat, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, and Gul Macet, Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Fifth is Tim Russ who most notably played the Vulcan Tuvok on Star Trek: Voyager.

Sixth is Majel Barrett who was the voice of the computer in many of the Star Trek series, as well as the nurse Christine Chapel in Star Trek: The Original Series. She also played Lwaxana Troi in Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Seventh is Tony Todd who played an aged version of Jake, as well as Worf’s brother Kurn, both in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.

Eighth is Diana Muldaur who most notably played Doctor Pulaski in Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Ninth is John Garman Hertzler who most notably played General Martok in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.

Tenth is Mark Lenard who played the first Romulan the Starship Enterprise encounters, as well as Spock’s father Sarek in Star Trek: The Original Series.

7x14 - Chimera

I just watched Chimera. Holy balls

I'm trying to figure out my thoughts so be patient with me if I say something stupid. The way I interpret it is that Laas and Odo show 2 different ways to live as an "other" (insert queerness, neurodivergence, racial minority, or whatever allegory you please).

Odo assimilates. This has a lot of drawbacks as he constantly struggles to reconcile his identity with the expectations of those around him. But at the same time, he has genuine connections to the society he has assimilated into, and those connections are also part of his identity.

Laas separates. This leaves him completely isolated from others, but he never has to make compromises about what he is. He is liberated from shame.

Some people interpret this episode as supporting Odo's assimilation, but I think it shows that no one should be forced into either decision. It is a hard choice to make, and both sides come with struggles that should not be dismissed. I resonated with Laas's monologue about how mono-forms' acceptance of Odo is conditional. But I also resonated with the final scene, where Odo bares his true form to Kira and she embraces him fully. I think this episode showed the nuances of marginalized identity very well, and I think I walked away from it understanding the world better.
