the bass thumped away as the latest random rhythmic pop song mixed in with the chatting from the party-goers. they were about 20 in the large rooftop apartment over looking the han river. an eclectic mix of people, but all brought close and united by the same passion, same struggles.
the life of an athlete was never easy, but they certainly knew how to throw one hell of a bash to make up for it.
she smiled at a soccer team member as she walked past the living room and into the large kitchen. she couldn’t get the grin off her face. it was always like that when they were all together. a noisy group, she had to admit, but the cohesion was instantaneous and while they rarely managed to get all together due to worldwide competitions, the few moments where they could, she cherished immensely
(little did she know these moments would seem gone and forgotten so soon)
she opened the fridge, grabbing herself a bottle of beer; smiling even wider when she saw the familiar face of her friend behind the door when she pushed it back in place.
“i’d congratulate you on the medal do hyun-ah” she began, moving to push herself up and sit on the counter, legs swinging in rhythm. “but that’s the excuse we chose for this particular party, and I’d hate to be repetitive” she teased with a smirk, grabbing a random lighter off the counter and popping her beer open.
“you’ll have to teach me how you keep your toes so pointed. I think my coach will have an aneurysm next time i get a deduction because of that again” she scoffed with an eye roll, taking a swing from her bottle before holding it out, offering him a sip.
