Summary of chap 5
There's magic in the air of the Village Hall.
Excerpt
“Have you ever performed anything?” Aziraphale asked, waving his arm around the stage. Crowley shot an eyebrow up at Aziraphale.
“No, I suppose not,” Aziraphale said. “You’d make an excellent stagehand though in those clothes.”
“Love being behind the scenes.”
“Hiding in dark corners.”
“You really are a creature of the night, aren’t you?”
“Practically vampiric.”
Aziraphale let a small grin go over his lips as Crowley’s shoulders began to loosen.
“Show us a trick then,” Crowley said.
“Oh, ah - well most of my props are of course in the bookshop. But -” he said, his eyes lighting up. “This one I could do anywhere.” He ruffled around in his coat pocket, and pulled out a ten pence and a two pence coin. He waved his hands in the air, and opened it again, to show one of the coins had gone.
Then without thinking, he pushed his hand up to Crowley’s ear, and felt his fingers ever so slightly brush past a few loose wisps of his red hair. This brief contact sent a jolt flying through Aziraphale.
“Ah,” he yelped as the coin dropped from his hand, rolling off the stage.
“Hmm, and you performed that on here did you? To an audience?” Crowley’s face had contorted into barely hidden laughter.
“Well, I have some bigger tricks at home,” Aziraphale muttered, still thinking about the brush of the man’s hair against his hands. What would it be like to run his hands through Crowley’s hair? Aziraphale coughed. His eyes scanned the room for anything else to look at or think about.
