PF2e is hilarious - An initial observation

So I attempted to remake an old D&D character of mine, my beloved tabaxi rogue Subtle Flame, genderfluid icon, in Pathfinder 2e because honestly why not?

So without trying hard at all Subtle Flame, at 1st level, was proficient in all skills except Crafting, and two Lore skills.

Love that PF rogues are just like that. I wanna play Subtle Flame again so bad, I miss them, they were such a fun character in terms of personality.

Yo, tell me something about your OCs. Like what's their favourite food? (You don't need to do all if you don't like, just like your faves)

I'm just gonna do my three active DnD characters, plus my current favorite among my prospective DnD characters (aka the one I'd play if I either were to start a new campaign or if one of my other characters were to die).

Wococo: The aarakocra ranger loves eating game, especially seared deer or boar, with a warm sauce made of berries and served alongside a decent ale, which he usually drinks after his meal is over because he is a drinking lightweight and doesn't enjoy how being drunk lessens the taste of dishes for him.

Worteg: He's from a Dragon Age-based DnD campaign and, while a dwarf, his opinion on traditional dwarven cuisine is very low. His favorite dish is roasted nug, stuffed with fresh herbs and fruit. Nugs are a traditional dwarven meat source but he appreciates it most when prepared in a more Ferelden style like that.

Subtle Flame: My tabaxi rogue is an adventurous eater, seeing regional cuisine as a way to experience different cultures. As a result they tend to order dishes which common folk can afford and which is typical for the people of the area. Flame, despite their name, isn't that big into very spicy food, though, which is why they tend to order milk as their preferred drink to compensate for potential heat in their order. On the road however Flame is an opportunistic eater.

Jarsh: The githzerai monk is a vegetarian and tends to favor simple dishes. I imagine her to mostly prefer soups with bread, ideally whatever the Faerûnian equivalent of broccoli cream soup is, with a nice whole wheat bread to dip it with.

Subtle Flame (D&D player character)

So this post is basically an introduction to a character I’m playing in a new DnD campaign with a couple of friends of mine (almost all of whom are my mutuals here, hey-o!). Subtle Flame, commonly just known as Flame, is a tabaxi Arcane Trickster Rogue and here’s the thing which makes Flame so fascinating: they are genderfluid. For those of y’all unaware about the tabaxi, in D&D lore they are a cat-like people group known for their curiosity and their frequently shifting obsessions, be it myths or religions, mundane or magic items, or activities. Flame has taken this curiosity to the field of anthropology, even using the anthropologist background from the Tombs of Annihilation adventure, and thus they travel around to discover cultures foreign to them. They do have a fairly long attention span for a tabaxi, so they can focus on locations like major cities for a while, but the fickle nature of the tabaxi is reflected in Flame’s gender expression instead. Flame alters their gender expression every couple of days and adjusts their outfit accordingly. Sometimes they dress more femininely, sometimes more masculinely, and sometimes androgynously. Their default look would be this outfit, which I made in HeroForge, but haven’t colored because I am not happy with the coloring tool the site uses.

Also HeroForge sadly doesn’t allow one to change the head much, in an ideal world the muzzle would be slightly longer, but hey, you play with the hand you’re dealt with.

If Flame seeks to present as male, they pick either of these outfits, depending on how they fancy they need to be.

Meanwhile while presenting as female, they have these two outfits at their disposal.

In terms of personality, Flame is curious, loves to make people laugh, and is kinda cocky about their ability to not be seen when she doesn’t want to be, which for a tabaxi who’s ~6′4″ tall in a city like Waterdeep, where Flame is currently based and where tabaxi aren’t exactly a common sight, is pretty impressive.

Also please note that I prepped this post before the first session of this campaign, so I’m sure she’ll develop as the adventure progresses ^^ Maybe I’ll post more about her. We’ll see.
