PANIC SETS IN quick. in spite of how hard remus tries to keep his composure, he goes rigid, as if fixed in place by some unseen force. dread wells up in the pit of his stomach, and he shudders involuntary. he swallows, hard, then clears his throat.

‘ i was ill, severus. my health has never been all that robust, as i’m sure you’ve figured out by now. ‘ his lips curl into something akin to a snarl -- how awful of him, how wolfish, he thinks to himself. it disgusts him, to appear in any way animalistic.

‘ tell me, what do you find so suspect about someone being unwell? is it a crime to be ill now? i wasn’t aware. ‘

he was undoubtedly skating on thin ice now, but for once in his life, he couldn’t bring himself to care.

i actually haven’t thought about this one very much tbh. mostly because there are a lot of !!! rumors and ideas. but, no, i don’t really think it was nagini. mostly because i don’t think it was supposed to be any more than just introducing harry to this new world he is going to be living in. it’s supposed to show us that -- yes, he’s special in a way he doesn’t understand yet. it introduces us to harry’s new talent. we learn it when he learns it. it’s not like he’s known this for years and it just comes out randomly in the text - no, we’re connected in that moment because it’s such a big thing for him. like what the fuck, how can this snake hear me?

so i don’t really think it was nagini. not to mention... but i have a feeling that nagini and the snake in the tank at the zoo were two completely different breeds. i mean, nagini can inhale a fucking person. that’s how giant that snake is. 

i don’t really think it’s a horrible idea, though. like not something i’m completely against or anything. just not something i really believe myself.
